This module is for Indigenous Maryland Inquiry Kits

The Indigenous Maryland Inquiry Kits were created with the consultation and expertise of tribal leaders and tradition bearers from Maryland. These consultants collaboratively determined goals and themes for the kits, assisted the researchers, and reviewed drafts to ensure that the curated sources and descriptions met shared goals and portrayed a respectful and accurate account of Indigenous present and past.

The inquiry kits in this collection offer a starting place for you and your students to explore Indigenous Maryland culture and history. Further investigation and reading about Indigenous history are encouraged. The topics presented in these kits reflect themes drawn from available sources, though many additional topics and perspectives could not be included due to limited or inaccessible sources.

Below you can take a closer look at the topics covered in the Indigenous Maryland Inquiry Kits. Click through each collection to learn more.
