The Allegheny Mountains are part of the Appalachian Mountain system in the Eastern U.S. The system extends from West Virginia through Pennsylvania.

French and Indian War -
The French and Indian War (1754-1763) was the North American conflict between Great Britain and France. This war was part of the global conflict known as the Seven Years’ War. The Ohio River Valley was one of the sources of conflict. Both countries wanted the area's vital resources and sought control of the land. After many battles, Great Britain gained enormous territory in North America.

A Native American is an individual who is of a tribe, people, or culture that is indigenous to the United States.
neutral -
To remain neutral means to not help or support either side in a conflict.
Ohio River Valley -
The Ohio River is formed by the meeting of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers in western Pennsylvania. The Ohio River Valley is west of the Appalachian Mountains and stretches across Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky. The area consists of fertile farmland and forests. It became the main source of conflict during the French and Indian War.

Proclamation of 1763 -
The Proclamation of 1763 was a Parliament law issued by King George III. The proclamation stated that the American colonists could not settle or take control of land west of the Appalachian Mountains. The Proclamation of 1763 would become a source of conflict and one of several causes of the American Revolution.
Seven Years’ War -
The Seven Years’ War (1756-1763) was a global conflict that spanned five continents. In America, it was known as the French and Indian War. Many historians believe the Seven Years' War was the first global conflict in history. It was a war for world supremacy between Great Britain and France. Great Britain won the war.
