Spotlight on... The Sears Family

Devon searched for summer learning activities to engage her 4-year-old Caleb’s love for science. She needed a program that welcomed his younger sister and fit Dad’s busy work schedule. It was important to her to find “something to do that’s entertaining and educational.”

PLAYFUL LEARNING

Devon received a text from her local children's librarian to join MPT’s free workshop series for families with young children. The Ready Jet Go! Family & Community Learning (FCL) series at Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore's Walbrook community, offered meaningful learning by teaching core science concepts through video, game-play, and hands-on, space-related engineering design activities. She knew that she found her answer!

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT

The Sears Family was over the moon to blast into space with Ready Jet Go! and MPT as they engaged in playful learning to design spacesuits, build moon rovers, and launch rockets. Together, the family celebrated their accomplishments during the 4-part FCL series. As parents, Devon and Rob were able to encourage Caleb's sense of discovery and see his scientific thinking in action.
