From Mars to Mardi Gras: A Lesson in Generalizations
When taking samples, for a sample to be valid and representative of the population, the samples must be taken randomly from the population. Every piece in the population must have the equal chance of being chosen. In general, the bigger the sample size, the better. For the cake slices to be valid samples, we need to randomly cut around the cake so that any piece around the cake has a chance to be eaten, and we should sample more than 3 slices.
