# Relative Frequency and Probability

If skill is removed, the chance of making a shot into a trash can is 50%. You either make it or you don’t. If 100 balls of paper were thrown into the trash can, we would expect to land *about half* into the trash. If 500 balls of paper were thrown into the trash can, we would expect to land *about *250 balls into the trash. If 10 balls of paper were thrown into the trash can, we would expect to land 5 balls into the trash can.

Thus, it comes as no surprise that both classes came very close to a relative frequency of landing 5 out of 10 balls of paper into the trash can. If we know the long-range probability of an event, we can predict the approximate relative frequency.

Congratulations! You have completed this activity.
